Women-Led Startups: Driving Innovation, Growth, and Change

The Department of Commerce successfully organised a one-day National Seminar on the theme “Women-Led Startups as Catalysts for Innovation, Employment and Economic Growth”, sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) – Southern Regional Centre (SRC). The seminar brought together inspiring voices, practical insights, and meaningful discussions on the growing impact of women entrepreneurs in today’s economy.

The highlight of the event was an engaging keynote address by Mrs. R. Abiraamasundari, Managing Director of Spinos Life Science & Research Pvt. Ltd., Coimbatore. Drawing from her own entrepreneurial journey, she spoke about the importance of resilience, innovation, and research-driven business models, leaving participants motivated and full of fresh perspectives.



Adding further depth to the discussions, Ms. Rathandeep Umesh, Co-Founder & CEO of Consulting & Beyond, Chennai, shared how women leaders are playing a crucial role in strengthening the SME ecosystem. She highlighted key aspects such as strategic planning, access to finance, and sustainable growth practices, offering practical insights for aspiring entrepreneurs.

The seminar also featured an inspiring session by Mrs. A. R. Ramlath Thasleem, Co-Founder & Senior Project Manager at Blackdart Labs Pvt. Ltd., Chennai. She spoke about the transformative role of women innovators in areas like business analytics and artificial intelligence, explaining how data-driven decision-making can create a strong competitive edge in modern businesses.

In addition to expert talks, the seminar included paper presentations by academicians and research scholars, which encouraged thoughtful discussions and academic exchange on women-led entrepreneurship and its contribution to economic growth.
